When watching movies set in the medieval time period, have you ever looked at a basic, boring catapult and thought, 'wow, imagine the sort of damage they could have done to that castle if they had a good ol' fashioned tank?' So did the developers behind Besiege. Besiege is a one-of-a-kind builder game that takes all of the basic elements you know and love from your basic physics based builders and amps up the possibilities, letting you combine classic combat targets in old-world settings with modern technology that makes every hit more satisfying than the next.
What is Besiege?
In Besiege, your character is given an infinite supply of elements and blocks that you will need to construct just about any sort of machinery you can think of to meet the objectives in the game. Even though this game is set in the medieval era, you are given the power to build everything from helicopters, tanks, bomber planes and beyond from scratch. In each campaign offered within the game, there several are different levels to be completed, and while they are fairly limited in number, they offer up endless hours of replay-ability, so you can learn from mistakes or weak approaches on previous tries and get creative to give it your best on the following ones.
Various Mission Objectives
The levels offer different objectives or missions within a mission for you to engage in. You can tackle feats that are as simple as blowing up a small structure through goals like 'destroy the windmill,' or take on moving targets for an extra challenge while you play. Even though the goals of the game are fairly minimalistic and simple, they offer you plenty of chance to play around. Get the objective and build a machine to complete it. It’s that straightforward but definitely not that simple.
Besiege has two phases within each mission, including the build phase where you can make anything you want and the action phase where you destroy what's around you. Within these two modes, you can bring just about any scenario to life. If you've ever played Kerbal Space Program and wished there was a bit more color and creativity to it, Besiege has answered your call.
Pros
Level editing allows you to take control of every aspect of your gameplay experience
Endless replay possibilities
Priced low on Steam
Battle your creations against your friends
Pitfalls of Besiege
Online gameplay is limited to playing with those who are already on your friends list
Only eight players can be on one server at a time
Bottom Line
Any builder who really wants to push the boundary of their creativity and see what it would be like if you traveled through time and air-dropped an entire military with all of their most modern technology into the Dark Ages, Besiege is going to keep you entertained for hours on end.
